Head Instructor / Junior Race Team Coach

The Cleveland Yachting Club is seeking a highly motivated, head instructor to teach/coach for the summer of 2012. The candidate would be responsible for:

·         General sailing instruction of students ages 7-16: beginner, intermediate and advanced levels

·         Supervising sailing instructors (18-20) for younger sail camp levels

·         Coach Junior Race Team and advanced sailors

o    Travel to Junior Bay Week and local events

The candidate will also be an established individual with leadership and experience in the following areas:

·         Preparing and executing an established curriculum, lesson plans and debriefs, including seamanship and sportsmanship

·         Ensuring the overall safety of program participants

·         Excellent communication and organizational skills

·         Basic repair and maintenance of program boats (420, FJs, & Optimists)

Mission:

The goals of our program are to instill a life-long respect, passion, and love for boating among CYC youth through the premier youth day camp in the country. Sail camp is the cornerstone of a youth development program that results in competent boaters who pursue their individual interests to the fullest.

Job Qualifications:

·         US Sailing Small Boat Sailing Instructor Certificate - Level 1 / [Level 2 a plus]

·         Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety / CPR

·         Time commitment: 8-10 weeks from early-June to late July

·         Salary: based on experience

·         Housing available

The Cleveland Yachting Club is a member owned private club located in Rocky River on the shores of Lake Erie approximately10 miles west of downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Founded in 1888, the Club is situated on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie and home to over 800 members.
